B is for Baking!

Last Friday was the second day of our ABC Countdown! We celebrated the letter B by baking cookies! Since I needed some extra help with baking, two grandmas came in to help! Who better than a granny to help bake! :) The kids had a BLAST! And the cookies turned out to be delicious! We are rocking it in K! The link to the recipe we used is below:

Stay tuned for more ABC Countdown activities to the end of school!

A is for Arthur!

Today marks the first day of our ABC Countdown to the end of the year! I cannot believe that I am almost finished with my first year teaching! I have LOVED every second of my Kinders! To celebrate we have been learning about our favorite aardvark, Arthur! We read "Arthur's Nose" and talked about how different Arthur  looks now! Then we worked on illustrating part of the story and telling about what happened! During centers everyone wanted to read about Arthur!

Stay tuned! Tomorrow is B for Baking Day! I'm going to be one tired teacher tomorrow! Ha!

Wrapping up Space!

Last week we finished up our space unit! The kids LOVED it! The at home project for this unit was to make a poster on a planet. Then each child presented theirs to the class. They did so good! We also had spring pictures so we are all looking fabulous! :)

Rocking through Space!

It feels like it has been FOREVER since I have been able to get on here! I have been SO busy with school and purchasing my first car (that I have purchased on my own)! It is such a scary and rewarding feeling!
Anyway, my babies have been busy bees! We have been rocking our Space Unit! Last week I introduced our Solar System. The kids have LOVED learning about all of the planets, the sun and the moon. We worked with second grade today to make the planets with paper, glue and balloons. The after picture will come later today! I am so pleased with how much they have learned so far!

I purchased "The Solar System" by Mr and Mrs Brightside on TPT for $3.00. This mini unit has great posters with facts about each planet, the planet posters show below, and the moon phases posters. We are going to be using those next week when we learn more about the moon!

I found the Rotate and Revolve anchor chart on Pinterest and made my own. It was made by Mrs. Dixon from Teaching Special Thinkers. It definitely helped them to understand with the pictures. I also had them sit in a circle on the carpet (as the sun) while I spun around and revolved around them (as the Earth). This helped but I was a very dizzy teacher! :)
